Lismore’s biggest graduating student art exhibition
Friday 2 November 2007
Arts students graduating from TAFE NSW - North Coast Institute’s Lismore Campus will participate in the largest exhibition ever held at the Campus. The 2007 show will use the new state-of-the-art ‘Space Gallery’ as well as the traditional display areas used in previous years.
More than 100 Students from Diploma and Certificate level courses will be participating with paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, short films and animation. The pieces in the show reflect both historical and contemporary influences and many artworks will be for sale.
Head Teacher, John Stewart, says that the art courses have emphasised skill development, which is TAFE’s traditional strength, and the emergence of students’ personal vision.
Of particular interest will be the work of students from the Diploma of Fine Arts and the Diploma of Ceramics.
Mr Stewart says “These artists have been studying intensively for three years and have made bodies of work that are visually unique and show great technical virtuosity.”
”Recent upgrades to the Space Gallery have brought the Gallery to a professional standard that now allows students to display their work in a venue as good as many institutional and commercial galleries.
“Lismore Campus’s 2007 Graduate Exhibition continues to tap the rich vein of creativity in the Northern Rivers area,” says Mr Stewart.
The exhibition opens to the public at 5:30 pm on Friday 23 November at the Lismore Campus on Conway Street, Lismore.
