Grafton TAFE student achievements recognised

North Coast TAFE Grafton Campus celebrated the achievements of 2007 graduating students at an awards presentation evening on Tuesday 18th March.
Eighty students had their excellent efforts and high achievement recognised, and many were presented special awards donated by Clarence Valley businesses and industry. The major awards included;
Clarence Valley Incentive Awards in Trade and Non-Trade areas
Brian Lewis - Certificate III Painting and Decorating
Douglas Spalding - Certificate IV Information Technology (General)
Clarence Valley Club Award for Special Achievement
Michael Bailey - Certificate IV in Food Studies and Tourism Operations
Diploma of Hospitality
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
Clarence Valley Women Incorporated Award
Melinda McHutchison - Certificate IV in Tourism Operations
(Melinda is a single mother and juggled many challenges to complete her qualification)
Grafton Campus Gold Award
Terry Hill - Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations).
Campus Manager, Wendy Bruszewski said that Terry received her award for her diligent application of effort in completing the course whilst getting her business up and running at the same time.
Ms Bruszewski said that Terry and her partner had recently opened the Clarence River B&B at Seelands and that she found it really gratifying that their business is already contributing to the local economy and tourism industry.
“We at North Coast TAFE are in the business of helping build prosperity and sustainability and innovation in our region, and the fact that Terry’s business is fast becoming a well renowned venue for visitors shows that she has been well and truly putting her learning into place already,” said Ms Bruszewski.
