Local auto apprentices from TAFE benefit from industry support

Tuesday 12th February 2008

The national industry training advisory body, Automotive Training Australia (ATA) and Ford dealer, Mike Blewitt Ford of Coffs Harbour, have combined to make a current model Ford sedan available to the Coffs Harbour Campus’ Automotive training workshop, thus ensuring that TAFE apprentices are able to work on the latest vehicle technology.

ATA, in conjunction with Ford Motor Company, represented by Blewitt Ford’s Service Manager, Mr Michael Brown will officially ‘hand over the keys’ to the current model V8 Ford LTD sedan on Wednesday 13 February at 10 a.m.

Mr Brown said “Providing a vehicle like this shows our and the Ford Motor Company’s commitment to the high standard of training delivered by TAFE, for all auto apprentices and trainees in the local area”.

Head Teacher of Automotive at the Campus, Mr Garry Crossingham, said that having current model vehicles for the students to work with is a great bonus.

“it’s a tremendous help to their studies, as technology in the motor vehicle industry is constantly moving at a fast pace,” said Mr Crossingham.

Automotive Training Australia (ATA) is an established Industry Training Advisory Board that actively represents all sectors of the industry and works to ensure that formal, accredited training meets industry needs, facilitating the training of a highly skilled workforce that consistently meets the needs of the Australian Automotive Industry.
