New courses on offer at Maclean Campus

Friday 1st February, 2008
Maclean Campus has been a hive of activity in the last couple of weeks with many people enrolling in courses to help increase their opportunities to find work, switch careers or just to ensure that their learning and skills are current.

Courses available for enrolments are in a range of study areas; for example, Business Administration, Information Technology, Maritime Operations, Hospitality Operations and Automotive. People who have wanted to re-start their education have enrolled in our Year 10 equivalent course, the Certificate II in General and Vocational Education or in the Year 12 equivalent, the Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation. Two popular courses for women are Work Opportunities for Women and Fashion Styling and  Selling.

A new course for Maclean this year is a Statement of Attainment in Supporting Aboriginal families.  This course will cover a number of topics in a series of informal workshops one day each week from 18th February to 25th June, 2008.  The teachers are all experienced family workers as well as qualified TAFE teachers, and will be working together to present a program which covers many areas.  More information is available by either visiting or ringing the Campus on 6603 5000.

Limited vacancies are also available in the Certificate III in Hospitality Operations. Completion of this course can lead to employment in the type of hospitality establishments who are regularly looking for staff - fast food outlets, coffee shops, take-away facilities, restaurants, function centres, hotels and clubs.

Maclean Campus is also the home of the North Coast Computer Project, a non profit organisation supplying refurbished computers to community groups and health care card holders at an extremely low cost.  For more information on purchasing their affordable computers ring 6645 5930.

The Campus hours are 8:30 to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30 to 4:30 on Fridays.
