Duration: The course requires approximately 105 hours of study. Studying online you will need to spend a minimum of 6 hours per week to complete the course successfully in one semester.
This course is for people who want to acquire basic computer skills required in an increasing proportion of contemporary job roles. You will develop the knowledge and skills required to successfully operate a personal computer and operate a range of application software, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation packages, email and Internet browsers.
The outcomes provide a foundation for developing higher-order computing and information technology skills. When you finish this course, you can apply for advanced standing in the Certificate II in Information Technology (ICA20105), TAFE course no: 19001 and will be given credit for Certificate I units which are included in Certificate II and III level courses.
Career Opportunities: Provide basic support to an office assistant or equivalent at a junior level.
Articulation: When you finish this course you can apply for advanced standing in the Certificate II in Information Technology 19001 and will be given credit for Certificate I units which are included in Certificates II and III.
Entry Requirements: To complete this course it is recommended that you have basic computing and internet skills, be able to send and receive email, be able to organise yourself and manage your time. Keyboarding skills are desirable.
To work through this course online, you will also need:
- Pentium IV 2GHz or faster
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or above
- Windows 2000 or above or MAC OS 8.0 or above
