Applying and Enrolling - Online courses
Some courses are open for enrolment all year, provided places are available. Other courses have specified application periods.
Step 1 - Select the course you want to do.
Think about your career and study goals and consider the course(s) that will help you achieve those goals. You may need to speak to the Course Contact or arrange an appointment with the TAFE Career Counsellor at your local campus to assist you in making your choice.
In addition to online courses, the Institute offers a range of courses through face-to-face and flexible delivery.
Step 2. Check you meet the course entry requirements.
Entry requirements are the minimum qualifications, knowledge, skills, experience and attributes you must have to be considered for entry into a course. These are included on the course information page.
Some courses also have specific software or technology requirements to enable you to successfully complete the course. Talk to the course contact about whether you meet these requirements.
Step 3. Check that the course is being offered in a way that suits your needs.
The course information pages indicate whether the course is available fully online or by blended learning at each location where the course is offered, as well as whether students pay the TAFE NSW Fee or a commercial fee-for-service rate. Note: for some courses NSW residents pay the TAFE Fee and Interstate or International students pay a commercial fee.
Step 4. Course vacancies.
Depending on the skills you want to acquire you may only need to complete some modules in a course. You may be able to join an existing course to gain these skills.
When joining an existing course you need to be aware that if you wish to complete the full course you may not be able to do so in the normal timeframe, or at the same location, or in the same attendance pattern as the course is currently offered.
Contact the Course Contact for more information.
Step 5. Applying for your chosen course.
Courses currently available for enrolment:
The course information page will indicate the form you need to complete
to apply for entry to an online course. This form will be either a TAFE
NSW Statewide Application Form or a North Coast Institute Application
Form.
You should return the completed form to the campus offering the course. You will be advised by mail about the outcome of your application.
Courses offered commercially:
Contact the Course Contact to arrange enrolment into the course.
Courses currently proposed for future enrolment:
You should complete a copy of the Expression of Interest form at the bottom
of this page and submit this form online. You will be contacted when the
course is offered.
Step 6. Enrolment
You will be advised by mail or email how to enrol. This may be in person on-campus, by mail or online, depending on the course.
If you are a New South Wales resident studying a course that has a TAFE NSW Fee you may be able to apply for one personal exemption from the fee each year. You will need to provide supporting documentation when you enrol.
If you are seeking Recognition for previous studies you will need to discuss with your Course Contact the documentation you will need to provide.
Students studying a course by blended learning may also be required to pay all or part of the course related charges associated with their course.
Please note: you are not enrolled until you have completed and signed the enrolment form and paid the appropriate fee or charge (or had an exemption approved).
