Introduction to Teaching Online

TAFE Course No: ItTO*
Duration: An initial face-to-face workshop followed by a 7-week online program of facilitated forum discussions and seriously fun activities. The expected time required to undertake the online component is half an hour per day.

The aim of this professional development program is to expose teachers who are venturing into the world of online delivery to a range of strategies, issues and networks to enable an informed transition to an online environment.

Technical Requirements


Objectives are to:

  • Understand the role of the online facilitator
  • Share and experience strategies to motivate and engage online learners
  • Investigate key aspects of communicating online
  • Discuss strategies to manage and evaluate online delivery
  • Explore issues surrounding online assessment
  • Practice using some online tools to support online learning
  • Network with other teachers venturing into the world of online learning.
