Definitions

The following definitions are to help potential students understand the differences between the modes of delivery for online courses at the North Coast Institute.

Online (O)

Online is off-campus learning via the Internet or CD-ROM technologies which uses, or simulates the Internet. Delivery does not include face-to-face attendance at classes, but may include computer-based learning, work-based learning and virtual classrooms.

Blended Learning (BL)

Blended learning is a combination of course delivery which is online via the Internet or CD-ROM technologies, and some face-to-face attendance. This may be for modules not offered online, tutorials, practical workshops or student assessment exercises.
