What's in it for me?
Most students find they are more independent and confident as a result of doing a vocational course. It can give you an insight into the kind of career you might like and help you make better decisions to avoid getting into a program of tertiary study in an area you're not sure about.
A vocational course will equip you with knowledge and skills to seek and gain employment. It certainly makes you more job-ready and attractive to employers. TVET courses may increase your chances of getting a job. This is particularly true for courses with a work placement component. Industry recognises the quality of TAFE educated workers.
TVET courses are designed to lead to higher level TAFE courses. You will have an opportunity to obtain advanced standing and/or continuing student status on successful completion of your study.
You could save time in your future apprenticeship or other TAFE courses through doing a TAFE- delivered VET course as part of your HSC.
