This course is equivalent to 2 units towards Preliminary and/or HSC
The aim of this course is to allow students to acquire and apply fundamental creative, practical skills and knowledge as a means of an introduction to the fashion industry environment. In a highly supervised training environment you will learn what it is like to work in the fashion industry, and how to work safely and produce high quality products.
This is a hands-on course that allows for some creative expression to develop and be displayed in the practical projects undertaken.
Career Opportunities: Fashion designer, patternmaker, garment production assistant.
Pathways: This course can provide advanced standing in other Textiles Clothing and Footwear Training Package qualifications including:
Certificate II and III in Applied Fashion Design and Technology
What is this course about? What will students be doing?
This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to:
- identify aspects of working in the fashion industry
- identify textile fibre and fabric/materials
- understand the design and development processes for fashion
- sew and finish a garment and/or textile product
- apply techniques for printing and dyeing textiles incorporating Aboriginal designs
- follow safe work practices
- apply quality assurance and control.
