Hospitality (under review)
Qualification: Depending on the selection and achievement of units of competency the possible qualifications outcomes are:
Certificate I in Hospitality, Certificate I in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) (SIT10307), Certificate II in Hospitality, Statement of Attainment towards Certificate II or III in Hospitality.
This course is equivalent to 2 units towards Preliminary and HSC or 2 units towards Preliminary or HSC.
Optional HSC examination for students seeking a University Admissions Index (UAI)
The course provides students with the knowledge and skills to enable the individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions in a hospitality setting.
Career Opportunities: Bar useful, coffee shop assistant, waitperson, food and beverage runner, kitchen attendant, larder hand, sandwich hand, food and beverage attendant, catering assistant.
Workplacement: Yes, as part of the course you will be required to complete work placement in hospitality for a minimum of 35 hours for every 2 units of study.
Pathways: This course can provide advanced standing in other Hospitality Training Package qualifications including:
Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma from the Tourism, Hospitality and Events Training Package
What is this course about? What will students be doing?
This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to:
- support and work with colleagues to meet goals and provide a high level of customer service
- develop menus, manage resources, prepare, cook and serve a range of dishes
- provide food and beverage service in a range of settings
- provide housekeeping and front office services in hotels, motels, resorts and other hospitality establishments
- plan and organise events and manage services.
