Information and communication technologies are now the backbone of all business and industry operations. This course provides students with a range of skills and understandings suited to entry level employment across a wide range of industry areas, with a focus on supporting and managing the use of technology within the workplace.
Career Opportunities: Office technical assistant, clerical or software support role, ICT specialist in software applications, network administration or computer supports.
Work Placement: Yes, as part of the course you will be required to complete work placement for a minimum of 35 hours for every 2 units of study.
Pathways: When you finish this course you may be eligible for advanced standing in several Information Technology Certificate III and Diploma courses, including Software Applications, Network Administration, Support and Websites.
What is this course about? What will students be doing?
This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to:
- follow workplace safety procedures and contribute to occupational health and safety in the workplace
- produce documents using application software within organisational guidelines, procedures and policies
- operate a personal computer
- select and operate basic computer hardware
- manipulate data between two or more commercial software applications
- install and use a computer operating system
- build a basic website that is consistent with the design and technical requirements and business expectations
- conduct diagnostic tests on a range of platforms.
