This course is equivalent to 2 units towards Preliminary and/or 2 units HSC
This is an entry level course for people who want to work in the music industry with a foundation of music industry skills and knowledge. You will develop knowledge of music, listen critically to music, and apply safe practices relevant to the music industry. You will also experience working with others across the performance, production and business areas of the music industry. You can choose to specialise in a basic range of performance, technical production or music business skills.
Career Opportunities: Road crew member, recording assistant, performer at the local community level.

What is this course about? What will students be doing?
Depending on competencies undertaken, students will gain the skills and knowledge to:

develop music knowledge and listening skills in selected music styles

develop a familiarity with the music industry, its products and its organisations

work in a safe manner and maintain a safe workplace for staff and others

work harmoniously with team members, colleagues and others in a music work environment

develop basic technical skills in areas of performance and/or sound production.
Note: Students should have some basic ability in playing a musical instrument to undertake this course.
