This course is equivalent to 2 units x 1 year, 4 units x 1 year or 2 units x 2 years
Optional HSC examination for students seeking a Universities Admission Index (UAI)

The retail, wholesale and personal services industries account for a large and growing proportion of the Australian workforce and are the largest employer of young people. While the major proportion of young employees are casual or part-time or are school-based trainees, the industry also offers long term career opportunities in management in areas such as Sales, Customer Service, Visual Merchandising and Human Resources Management.

In this course students gain an understanding of the retail industry and have the opportunity to develop a broad range of personal and interpersonal skills that are valued within and beyond the industry. Students will participate in a range of practical, hands on activities to enable them to develop skills and knowledge in customer service, communication, equipment operations, merchandising, and sales and stock control.

Career Opportunities: A range of positions in retail sales, customer service and administration.

Work Placement: Yes, as part of the course you will be required to complete work placement for a minimum of 35 hours for every 2 units of study.

Pathways: This course can provide advanced standing in Certificate III in Retail, TAFE Course No 17485 and Certificate II in Community Pharmacy, TAFE Course No 17490.
