This course is equivalent to 2 units towards Preliminary and/or HSC

This course provides students with the opportunity to develop proficiency in the basic skills required for working in an aquaculture enterprise as a field hand, and in a variety of aquaculture specific workplace situations.

Career Opportunities: Field hand, fishing operations, seafood processing, sales and distribution.

Pathways: This course can provide advanced standing in other Seafood Industry Training Package qualifications including:

Certificate III in the Seafood industry (Aquaculture)

What is this course about? What will students be doing?
This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to:

  • work with stock in an aquaculture enterprise
  • apply basic food handling procedures
  • meet OH&S requirements of the aquaculture industry
  • communicate effectively in an aquaculture environment.

Campus
This course is delivered by a mix of distance delivery and on-site workshops at the North Coast Institute Trenayr campus.
